Biography

Karim Messeghem is an associate professor of entrepreneurship and strategy at the University of Montpellier. He helped to establish the Montpellier Management Institute and Labex Entreprendre. Dean of the Faculty of AES in 2008 and from 2014 to 2016, he headed Labex Entreprendre from 2011 to January 2018. He is the co-director of the Jacques Cœur Chair for Entrepreneurial Support, which is supported by Banque Populaire du Sud. In this capacity, he provides support and has published reports such as the livre blanc on support structures for business creation. He has developed partnerships with Réseau Entreprendre, RETIS, and Leader, among others. His research is conducted within MRM and Lab Entreprendre. He is the co-director for two programs, one on the entrepreneurial university and the other on entrepreneurial support (Entrepreneurial Support Lab). His work focuses on entrepreneurial ecosystems, entrepreneurial opportunity, and SME strategies. He has published several books and about fifty articles in international journals such as Small Business Economics, Journal of Small Business Management, and French-language journals.
