Biography

Dr. Matilda Bez is an associate professor at the Montpellier Management Institute (University of Montpellier). Her research activities include a doctorate on “Strategizing and Managing Coopetition,” a postdoctoral fellowship at UC Berkeley with Henry Chesbrough on “open-coopetition,” and a role on the steering committee of the DiHECO Horizon 2020 project, which specializes in digital health platforms. She has organized several conferences, such as WOIC, and published articles in international journals, such as Technovation. In addition to coopetition, her research topics include corporate-startup engagement and, more recently, patient feedback platforms in healthcare.

In addition to her research, she is in charge of the Bachelor’s degree program in International Management at Montpellier Management Institute and teaches a wide range of students from Licence 1 to Master’s and EMBA levels. She has also given invited presentations to innovation directors and alliance managers in Silicon Valley and French companies. She has also been involved in a project to promote collaboration between academics and practitioners for Avery Dennison, Enel, and Tech Mahindra. Her conferences that have received the most positive feedback from practitioners are: “Managing coopetition: the good and the bad”; “Why and how to pursue a Moonshot innovation: an innovation that solves an ODD”; “Cooperating with competitors to engage with start-ups”; and “The hidden value of patient feedback platforms.”
