Master’s Years 1 & 2 Seashore and Marine Space Management (GLM)
The Master’s degree in Seashore and Marine Space Management (GLM) stands out nationally by offering a solid foundation in public management, particularly for coastal municipalities, in the first year (M1), and multidisciplinary training (management and economics, geography, water sciences) specializing in coastal and marine management in the second year (M2).
The Master’s 2 covers three main areas and is organized in partnership with two other departments: the Faculty of Sciences and Paul Valéry University:
- Public management: law and economics of coastal and marine areas; national directives and laws; public policies for coastal adaptation; study of activities related to coastal and marine areas, including: management of marine and coastal resources, fishing, transport, tourism; distribution of powers at the territorial level in each area
- Territorial management: geography, cartography and urban planning
- Technical water management and water sciences: marine biology; marine pollution
One-third of students come from each department, and one-third of the teaching is provided by teachers from these same departments. The master’s program offers a resolutely professional training and has adopted a schedule that favors work-study programs. For students not participating in work-study programs, the two main advantages of the degree are the emphasis on internships and the involvement in professional projects. These projects are led by the class, supervised throughout the year by teachers and the sponsor. The class is therefore involved in setting up and negotiating the terms of the specifications, processing the work, and delivering it to the sponsor.
