With student-employee status (work-study):

  • You are not eligible for CROUS scholarships. Please inform CROUS that you are enrolled in a work-study program.
  • You are covered under the general social security system.

To enroll in a work-study program, there are two types of employment contracts governed by the French Labor Code.

The Apprenticeship Contract is a work-study employment contract that allows the apprentice to alternate between training at Montpellier Management and practical work within a company, aiming to obtain a state-recognized professional qualification.

For whom?

  • Individuals aged 16 to 29 years old.
  • Those over 30 under specific conditions: persons with disabilities, termination of a previous apprenticeship contract, continuing studies through apprenticeship, project for business creation or takeover, and high-level athletes.

What types of companies can offer it?

Any company subject to the apprenticeship tax, including public companies, local authorities, non-profit associations (Law 1901), temporary employment agencies, Public Industrial and Commercial Establishments (EPIC), liberal professions, and employer groups.

What type of employment contract?

  • Fixed-term contract (CDD) with a duration at least equal to the length of the training program:
    Prépa-DCG 2 / Prépa-DSCG 1 / Master 1 = 2 years
    Prépa-DCG 3 / Prpa-DSCG 2 / Professional License / Master 2 = 1 year
  • Permanent contract (CDI)

What is the status?
Full employee status, holder of a “student trades card,” apprentice.

Duration of training?
At least 402 hours.

Support and supervision?

  • In the company, the student is supervised by a mentor who either holds the diploma or an equivalent level and has at least 2 years of professional experience related to the diploma, OR has 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • In training, the student is supervised by an academic tutor appointed at the start of the academic year by the program’s educational coordinator.

Le contrat de professionnalisation est un contrat de travail en alternance, permettant au « stagiaire » d’acquérir une qualification professionnelle ou de compléter sa formation initiale par une qualification complémentaire reconnue par l’État, en vue d’accéder à un poste déterminé dans l’entreprise.

Pour qui ?

  • Les personnes de 16 à 25 ans révolus
  • Les demandeurs d’emploi de 26 ans et plus
  • les bénéficiaires du RSA, de l’Allocation de Solidarité Spécifique ou de l’Allocation aux Adultes Handicapés
  • Les personnes ayant bénéficié d’un contrat unique d’insertion

Au sein de quel type d’entreprise ?

Toute entreprise assujettie au financement de la formation professionnelle, y compris les entreprises de travail temporaire, les Groupements d’Employeurs pour l’Insertion et la Qualification, les Établissements Publics à caractère Industriel et Commercial (EPIC), ainsi que les particuliers employeurs.

Sous quel contrat de travail ?

  • CDD de 6 à 12 mois (voire 24 mois), renouvelable une fois
  • CDI

Le contrat doit obligatoirement débuter avant le début de la formation.

Sous quel statut ?

Salarié à part entière, titulaire d’une “carte d’étudiant des métiers”; stagiaires de la formation continue.

Durée de la formation ?

15% à 25% de la durée totale du contrat de professionnalisation est dédiée aux enseignements et aux évaluations, inclus dans le temps de travail. Cette durée ne peut pas être inférieure à 150 heures et supérieure à 455 heures (sauf accord de branche portant cette durée au-delà de 25%).

Accompagnement et suivi ?

En entreprise, l’étudiant est suivi par un tuteur, employeur ou salarié de l’entreprise.

The Professionalization Office supports both students and host organizations throughout the year, working in collaboration with key training partners such as: CFA ENSUP LR, IFRIA Occitanie, DIFCAM, CFA for Private Healthcare Establishments

Together with these partners, Montpellier Management organizes information sessions, workshops, and participates in major career events led by the University of Montpellier, all aimed at facilitating professional integration.

Students also have access to ResUM, a dedicated platform for internship, work-study, and job offers.

A new plan to reform the financing of apprenticeships will be implemented from July 1, 2025.

How to start a work-study program at Montpellier Management

The admission requirement for work-study programs are the same as for full-time studies. You will need to provide a copy of your signed work-study contract.
