Student Life

Montpellier is one of the youngest cities in France: one in five residents is a student from all over the world. Thanks to this dynamic youth, Montpellier is a lively city. You will love your student life!

Our Campus

Montpellier Management is located on the Richter campus, in the new strategic heart of Montpellier, between the City Hall and the Regional Council headquarters.
The campus enjoys a privileged setting along the Lez River, close to the city center and beaches, with easy access to major highways and several tramway lines.

Campus tour in videoCampus tour in video

These are my roommates. We are studying different subjects, yet we are all on the same campus. Our three faculties are located on the Richter site of the University of Montpellier.

I’ll show you around.

Let’s start with my college major. I chose economics. I discovered this subject in high school and immediately got hooked. Here, it’s different. We discover new concepts and explore them in depth.

Sometimes it can seem a little complicated, but fortunately the University has put in place various support systems to help students succeed. For example, for math, video clips have been made by teachers to help us get back up to speed. And I also have weekly meetings with my tutor. She helps me learn the methodology and redo the exercises. She’s a fourth-year student, so she knows how it works. It’s really reassuring to be able to count on her.

Enough talk. Shall we start the tour? Here we are on the square, where I often meet up with my friends, their universities are right next door.

At the Faculty of Economics, there are three large lecture halls where lectures are held. The lecture hall can accommodate 500 students, which is quite impressive at first, but you get used to it after a while. We also have tutorials in small groups, which allow us to review the concepts covered in class and do exercises.

By the way, I hear there’s a class going on in the salle modulable. It’s the “success track.” The classes are designed so that students can complete their first year of a bachelor’s degree in two years. Students are divided into small groups and have more time to acquire a solid foundation, particularly in math, statistics, and economics.

Come on, I’ll take you to see a really amazing room: the trading room. It has 16 computers with dual screens, a teaching robot, an interactive whiteboard, and connected televisions. We use it to learn how to analyze risks and work in real-world conditions.

You see, at the Faculty of Economics, everything is done to ensure that first-year students feel comfortable and succeed in their studies. There’s really nothing to worry about. Well, I have to leave you now, but don’t go anywhere. My friend is going to show you around his place of study.

I chose to join IPAG, the Institute for Preparation for General Administration, after two years of studying for a bachelor’s degree in law. It is a public preparation program for civil service exams, where students study law, general culture, and methodology to succeed in the exams.

My goal is to pass the public finance inspector exam, but this institute also trains students for other civil service exams at the state, local, and hospital levels. And while I’m preparing for the exam, I can earn a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree. It’s a win-win situation.

There are 150 students here, so everyone knows each other, it’s a bit like one big family. We’re all preparing for the same exams, but there’s a real spirit of mutual support. We share our notes and study together. In short, I feel well supported here. The teachers here are always willing to listen. If we have any questions or difficulties, we can always go to them for help.

I often have classes in this seminar room, which is modular with removable partitions. It is equipped with modern multimedia tools: video conferencing, screen, camera, etc.

It allows you to take distance learning courses. IPAG offers several e-learning programs. Today, there are fewer people in class than usual because I have quite a few friends who are doing apprenticeships. When you enroll at IPAG, you can choose to be a full-time student or a work-study student. In the latter case, you alternate between weeks of work in an administration and weeks of classes. This allows you to earn a salary and gain valuable professional experience, which is a big advantage when taking competitive exams.

I joined another program at IPAG called the talent prep program. It depends on income level and merit.

It is very well located on the Richter campus. We are very close to the university library, the university restaurant, and the Student House (MDE), which offers a wide range of cultural and sporting activities. For example, on the first day, we all took part in the student welcome day. I was able to meet lots of people from my class and learn more about how the campus works. Hey, I can see my other roommate!

We often bump into each other on campus! Would you like to come with me for a tour of my school?

At Montpellier Management, we are nearly 4,000 students studying management, accounting, marketing, human resources, and, of course, management.

MOMA offers more than 50 initial or continuing education programs through work-study programs and sometimes even from home through e-learning. In short, there is something for everyone here.

My classes are spread between buildings B and D. You’ll see, it’s very easy to find your way around here.

I have classes in lecture halls or in rooms that are very well equipped. For example, there are videoconferencing systems and the Learning Lab. These spaces encourage us to interact and study in groups. The classes are lively and interactive.

In addition to my classes, I am involved in activities at my school. I am a member of the MOMA Consulting association (formerly MOMA Junior Conseil). It provides services to companies such as market research for business plans or communication plans for real companies. In addition to meeting new people, I can apply what I learn in class.

There is also BAMM. This is the association that organizes parties, the Gala, and orientation week.

The BDS Sports Office welcomes you with open arms. Join us and become part of the soccer, rugby, handball, basketball, or volleyball team. You will participate in the intercollegiate championship. Fun and a great atmosphere guaranteed!

Oh yes, I almost forgot! The Richter campus is right next to the banks of the Lez River, just a few tram stops from downtown Montpellier.

Take my word for it, it’s really nice to study here.

Our campus has a lot to offer! The University of Montpellier’s priority is to ensure that students have access to everything they need to succeed in their studies.
