Pierre-Laurent Berne

Aged 52, and a graduate of Montpellier Management (MOMA-University of Montpellier) with a Master’s degree in Management Control and Decision-making Information Systems, I began my career in the healthcare sector (clinics) as a management controller, before joining an engineering group based in France and abroad, where I worked as a management controller and then as an internal auditor.

In 2000, I entered the banking world with the Banques Populaires Group, where I held successive positions as Inspector, Audit Manager, and then Director of Control and Compliance. In 2012, I joined the Executive Committee of Banque Populaire du Sud as Director of Compliance and Risk.

In 2019, I became Network Director and then Director of Operations, overseeing 240 branches throughout the country. Appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer in March 2021, I am responsible for the Banque Populaire du Sud Group’s Local Markets, integrating the overall retail strategy across all of the Bank’s brands.

Since January 2023, I have been Director of Development for Banques Populaires, responsible for defining strategic directions, customer policies, management, transformation, and performance coordination for the regional Banques Populaires.

At the same time, committed to passing on knowledge, I am an associate professor at the University of Montpellier, where I am the academic director the Bachelor’s degree program in Marketing and Sales.
